Dr. Arcan was born in Romania and moved to Chicago, IL, when she was 13. She was inspired to pursue a career in the medical field after her uncle, who touched the lives of many individuals and was able to positively impact his community as a general surgeon. She was mentored by her family dentist and decided that oral surgery would be the right career for her.
Dr. Arcan joins California Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center with the same values our patients and referring providers know and trust: superb communication skills, strong provider rapport, and a commitment to providing an optimal experience. Dr. Arcan believes in treating her patients like family and calms nervous patients down by telling jokes and understanding the cause of their anxieties. She finds that discussing the details of procedures and treatments often alleviates anxiety and helps the patient have a more informed, comfortable experience.
Dr. Arcan received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago. She then attended Loyola Dental School, but when that school closed down, she finished her remaining 2 years at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, earning her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree in 1994. To further her education and knowledge of the medical field, Dr. Arcan was accepted into a dual-degree program at the University of Southern California, where she earned her Medical Degree (MD) in 1998. During her schooling, she completed a 1-year internship in general surgery in Phoenix, an Integrated Surgical Residency, at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center.
Following dental school, Dr. Arcan completed a 1-year internship at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, LA, before completing her residency at USC, where she gained hands-on surgical training in a hospital setting.
Dr. Arcan completed her residency in 2001 and afterward, she participated in a 1-year cosmetic surgery fellowship with the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. During this time, she teamed up with a plastic surgeon and started their own line of cosmetic products, RestoraMD. Dr. Arcan is also the current co-director of Skin Savvy, a medical spa in Hermosa and West Lake Village.
Dr. Arcan is board-certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Dentists. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association and the Harbor Dental Society. She has also been involved in the leadership of her dental societies and served on the executive board, including being its President in 2009.
Dr. Arcan has participated in many mission trips where she volunteered her time and skills to provide expert oral and maxillofacial surgery to those in need, including trips to Guatemala, Colombia, and China. Outside of work, Dr. Arcan loves spending time with her two daughters and can be found cheering from the audience at their gymnastics, ballet, and dance events. She loves giving back to the community and planning non-profit events, and hopes to embark on more mission trips in the future. Her family loves spending time in the mountains, at the sea, skiing, and traveling.
